Laminated
Two sheets of glass bonded together with a silicone barrier between the panes. Designed so if one sheet is cracked, the silicone and second pane of glass help hold the shape of the sheet together. Used for security and safety to avoid injury. (The windshield of a car is laminated.)
Lintel
A steel, stone or concrete header.
Level
To make a line or surface horizontal or flat; parallel with the plane of the horizon. No portion of a line or surface is higher than the other.
Low "E" Glass
Glass which is coated by a Low "E" (low-emissivity) coating, The transparent metallic coating is applied to the surface of the glass (soft coat) or applied into the glass during the manufacturing process (hard coat). The Low "E" coating allows short-wave energy to pass through but reflects long-wave infrared energy. The Low "E" coating increases the window's insulating value. In addition, it helps reduce fading of carpeting, furniture and draperies.
